Devotion: Be Ye Perfect

Living our lives the best for the Lord! There is no easy way to be a Christian. Christianity requires a lot of effort, sacrifice, and commitment. The heart of the Christian life is to love the way Christ taught and live. Though it sounds simple, it is terribly difficult. The temptation is to throw up our hands and say, “I’m not Christ! I can’t do things He did!” Still, Christ Himself said, in Matthew 5:48- “Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.”    How can Christ ask such a thing of us?  Christ never for one minute thought that we would be all the way perfect as God is. He knows that we are imperfect and sinful. He also knows how much God loves us and wants us to grow and be happy. With His help we can find joy and maturity. To assist us, God gave His Word the Holy Scriptures.
